Answer
Sheet
for the
Identity Crisis Test
The following answers will probably only be reasonable to those who have
committed their lives to Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and have some
knowledge of the Word of God. Furthermore, one needs to understand
that when one, by faith, gives his life unto the Lord, that the Spirit
of God unites with his spirit giving his spirit new life. The person
becomes born of the seed of God and becomes a new creation, a child of
God. If you would like to make that commitment now, click here
for a prayer.
Scoring
If you get all the answers correct, you have
the freedom to love others, receive their love, love God, receive His love,
and walk in His grace.
You will live an exciting and fulfilled life!
You may give yourself at least two wrong answers: one for misunderstanding
a question and one for the sway of emotions. However, one should
consider other wrong answers as indicators of an identity crisis: the larger
the number of wrong answers, the greater the identity crisis.
1. When I gain my self-esteem, I will find true happiness.
False = When
we walk through destitution and detachment from self to enter into a dependence
upon God, we enter into kingdom living and find true happiness. (Matthew
5:3).
2. I look at myself and question if God could ever use me.
False = If
God can use a donkey and a worm, surely he can use anyone. (Jonah 4:7, Numbers 22:28-30). Furthermore,
every part of the body is needed. (I Corinthians 12:13-23).
3. If I don't live up to God's standards, I will lose my salvation.
False = (1)
Salvation is not based upon our good works. (Romans 3:20, 28). (2) Therefore,
we can not lose their salvation by evil works. (I Peter 1:23). (3) God
is the one who keeps that which we have committed unto Him. (II Timothy
1:12).
4. I often see myself as a victim of my circumstances.
False = Joseph
declared to his brothers who had sold him as a slave that what they meant
for evil, God meant for good. (Genesis 50:20).
5. I have to know and use my spiritual gifts in order to find fulfillment.

4:11-16, I Corinthians 12:1-27.
6. I am sure that if I just tried harder, I could become righteous and live a righteous life.
False = We are not born again by will power neither do we live the Christian life by will power. (John 1:13, John 15:5).
7. If I reject the natural, unchangeable features of my life, I am also
rejecting God.
True = Since
God has created us, when we reject the natural unchangeable features (our
height, race, parents) about our lives, we are saying that God goofed.
(Exodus 4:11, Isaiah 45:9).
8. A good definition for a Christian is "a sinner saved by God's grace."

Believers were sinners, but have been set apart unto God by faith through

to be saints. (I Corinthians 6:9-12).

one comes to know who he is in God, he doesn't have to feel offended and

we desire to be. Therefore, we need to see ourselves as new creations
in Christ. (II Corinthians 5:17).
13. I often seem confused about who I really am.
False = To
find our identity in Christ, we must lose our identity in ourselves. (John
12:25, Mark 8:34-37).
14. I find my identity in my relationship with my family (parents, spouse,
or children).
False = People
will always fail us. Therefore, we must lay aside our trust in people
to find our true identity. (Luke 14:25-27).
15. I see myself as being a saint.
True = Paul
described the baby, carnal minded Christians, who were getting drunk at
the Lord's table, as being saints. (I Corinthians 1:2, 6:11). Why? He wanted
them to see who they were opposed to how they were acting so that they would begin to act like who they were.
16. I know the meaning of my name and understand that God has a purpose
in it.
True = The
meaning of your name is very important. For example, the name "Moses"

20. I am just human and can't keep from sinning at times.
False = The
Believer has God's divine nature dwelling in him. (II Peter 1:4).
God also gives grace to the Believer that he might obey Him, no matter
the situation. (I Corinthians 10:13).
21. I often look more at what I can't do than what I can do.
False = One
aspect of faith is believing that God will enable us to do whatever God
asks us to do. (Philippians 4:13, Hebrews 11:6).
22. A Christian can commit an unpardonable sin and go to hell.
False = The
unpardonable sin is the rejection of the work of the Holy Spirit (John
16:7-11) which is to bring one to Jesus (Mark 3:28-29, Luke 12:8-9).
Even if a Believer falls into disbelieve, Jesus will not deny him. (II
Timothy 2:13).
23. Other people may hear God speak to them, but I never hear God speak

False = Whatever
we cling to becomes an idol before God. Therefore, God will allow
the enemy to take our idols away from us. (I Peter 5:7-8).
26. I sometimes try to please others even when I know that what I am doing
is wrong.
False = Trying
to please others is an identity trap. However, trusting in God will
bring security in our identity. (Proverbs 29:25).
27. I see myself as a spiritual being, having a soul, and living in a house
of flesh.
True = A
Believer is a spiritual being, who has a soul, and lives in a house of
flesh. (I Thessalonians 5:23). We may see another picture of this
in the three part of the tabernacle of the Old Testament (the outer court,
the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies).
28. I find myself becoming angry when people question my authority.
False = If
our identity comes from self or others, then we can easily lose it by our
mistakes. However, if it comes from God, then no one can take it
from us. (Psalm 75:6-7).
29 The major cause of feelings of inferiority is my seeing my imperfections.
False = The
major cause for feeling of inferiority is our comparing our lives to the
lives of others. (I Samuel 18:8, Luke 15:28, II Corinthians 10:12).
30. Jesus came to heal me immediately of all my physical diseases.

5:18, Ephesians 5:20).
32. I find myself complaining that I don't have enough hours in the day.

we complain about the lack of time, we are saying that God has not
given us what we need to accomplish what we need to accomplish.
However, God has given us all that we need: both the time and ability
to accomplish what He asks. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, Philippians 4:19).
A New Identity
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I
live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life that I now live
in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave
himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
Prayer of Commitment
Dear God,
I confess that I have disobeyed you and am a sinner.
I understand that the penalty for my sin is spiritual death. However, I
believe that Jesus, God's Son, came and lived a perfect life in the flesh,
but was crucified as a substitute for my sins and arose again. Therefore,
I commit my life to Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask that
you come by your Spirit and live inside of me and and make me a new person
on the inside. Furthermore, I ask that you live your life through
me. Amen
If you prayed the Prayer of Commitment for the first
time, I would like to congratulate you on becoming a new person in Christ.
