Means of Receiving Healing

Sometimes we think that there is only one means of receiving healing.  We then seek that one means and are not healed.  Why?  There may be any number of reasons; however, one major reason may be that we have made the means our god rather than seeking God that He might direct us to the means that He would use this time.

1. Abraham prayed for the Ablimelech to become pregnant.
"So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children" (Genesis 20:17).
2. Isaiah told Hezekiah to use a lump of figs to heal a boil.
"Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.    And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.    And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered" (II Kings 20:5-7).
3. Elisha had salt sprinkled in some water to heal the poison in the water.
"And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land"  (II Kings 2:21).
4. Naaman was healed of leprosy when he obeyed Elisha and bathed seven times in the muddy Jordan.
"Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean" (II Kings 5:14).
5. The man, lame from birth, was healed when he obeyed Paul and stood up.
"Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked"  (Acts 14:10).
6. People were healed through the prayer of the church. (as God answered the prayer).
"By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus"  (Acts 4:30).
7. People were healed when they touched Jesus.
"And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all"  (Luke 6:19).
8. The servant of the centurion was healed through the spoken word of Jesus.
"And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,    And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.    And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.    The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.    For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.    When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel"  (Matthew 8:5-10).

9. A woman was healed by touching the hem of Jesus' garment.

"And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment.  For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour"  (Matthew 9:20-22).
10. Jesus healed a young dead girl by the laying on of his hands.
"And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live....  And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise"  (Mark 5:23, 41).
11. Many were healed from the handkerchiefs or aprons which were sent out by Paul.
"So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them" (Acts 19:12).
12. Many were healed by having the shadow of Peter fall upon them.
"Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.    There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one" (Acts 5:15-16).
13. A child was cured though prayer and fasting.
"Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting"  (Matthew 17:21).
14. Ten lepers were healed as they went to show themselves unto the priests.
"And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:    And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.  And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed"  (Luke 17:12-14).
15. Elisha put meal in the pot to neutralize the poison.
"But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot" (II Kings 4:41).
16. Jesus healed a blind man by spitting on his eyes.
"And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought"  (Mark 8:23).
17. James instructs us to heal others by anointing and praying in faith.
"Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:   And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him" (James 5:14-15).
18. Paul told Timothy to take a "little wine" or grape juice for his stomach problems.
"Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities" (I Timothy 5:23).
